Merry Christmas Snowflakes

I just got this photopolymer stamp set and had to take if for a test drive. Love It! It's really easy to work with - super sticky to the clear blocks, seems to attract the ink to itself, and I don't feel the need to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure everything is positioned "just" the way I want it. (Yes, I'm one of those.) Don't you just love those snowflakes?
Supplies:
Stamps - Endless Wishes
Paper - Island Indigo, Whisper White
Ink - Pool Party, Soft Sky, Silver Encore, VersaMark
Embossing Powder - Clear

Quatrefancy Treasure

It's wonderful having a day off, with no plans, and the opportunity to play in my craft room. After making the Cheers! card yesterday, I was in the mood to continue playing with bright colors. I hadn't played with this stamp set in a while, and I decided it was high time.
Supplies:
Stamps - World Treasures
Card Stock - Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White

Ink - Island Indigo, Strawberry Slush
Embossing Powder - Clear

Lovely Winter Tree

More masking and stamping. And, of course, a wintry scene. To create the "snow" on the branches and needles, I first stamped the images with Basic Black. Then, I stamped slightly above the image with VersaMark and used clear embossing powder. From that point, the daubed ink is resisted where there is clear embossing powder.
Supplies:
Stamps - Lovely as a Tree, Watercolor Winter, Wetlands
Paper - Marina Mist, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Black, Marina Mist, Smoky Slate, VersaMark
Embossing Powder - Clear

Cheers!

My husband and I recently found out that one of our local grocery store clerks will be retiring in a few days. I've been in this area for just more than 25 years, and she's always been there. My husband and I decided I needed to make a card to let her know she will be missed. We also want her to know we will be celebrating her retirement.
Supplies:
Stamps - Happy Hour
Card Stock - Island Indigo, Whisper White
DSP - Quatrefancy
Ink - Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Strawberry Slush

Lovely Trees on my Mind

I'm working on making-winter inspired cards. Typically, my "winter" cards are for Christmas. There are times that we get so much snow, that I really want to look at something other than snow and snowflakes. Therefore, I am lacking in snowflake stamps and must rely on other techniques to create a wintry scene.
Supplies:
Stamps - Lovely as a Tree, Upsy Daisy
Paper - Marina Mist, Smoky Slate, Whisper White
Ink - Marina Mist, Silver Encore, Smoky Slate, VersaMark
Embossing Powder - Clear

Happy Christmas

A Clean and Simple (CAS) Christmas card.
Supplies:
Stamps - Elements of Style, More Merry Messages
Paper - Garden Green, Whisper White
Ink - Garden Green, Real Red, VersaMark
Embossing Powder - Clear

Eleanor on my Mind

Here's another card for Operation Write Home. I decided that "You're on my Mind" would definitely fall in the "miss you" category. I stamped the flower three times, then placed the three layers, each one cut smaller than the other, on top of each other. This makes a more three-D effect using a flat flower stamp.
Supplies:
Stamps - Everything Eleanor, Upsy Daisy
Card Stock - Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
DSP - Gingham Garden
Ink - Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz
Brad - Daffodil Delight

On My Mind

I love the way this card turned out. I rarely used this stamp set, because I had a difficult time visualizing a way to use it. I think I have solved that problem.
Supplies:
Stamps - By the Seashore, Upsy Daisy
Paper - Pool Party, Whisper White
Ink - Marina Mist, Pool Party, Silver Encore
Embossing Powder - Clear

More Merry Ornaments

If you saw my post yesterday, this will look familiar. I decided to see what I could do with my Ornament Keepsakes stamps. This is a quick, easy card to put together. It would be super easy to make a lot of these to send to family and friends. It just takes a little stamping, punching and cutting.
Supplies:
Stamps - More Merry Messages, Ornament Keepsakes
Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
DSP - Frostwood Lodge
Ink - Cherry Cobbler
Punches - 1" and 1-1/4" Squares

Really Serene Silhouette

This is a technique that took a little bit of practice before I liked the results. It's called direct to paper, and instructions for the technique can be found at Freedom in Creating. Michelle does a wonderful job of giving step-by-step, easy-to-follow, instructions.

Stamp - Serene Silhouettes
Paper - Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Black, Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Old Olive, Pool Party, So Saffron
Embellishments - Argyle Embossing Folder, Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon

Wetland Terns

Over the weekend, I was showing my mom some of my cards. She really liked one of the cards with the terns on it from the Wetlands stamp set. She didn't want to take the one she liked, until I reminded her that I can always make more. Here is one of the "more" I will be making.
Supplies:
Stamps - Wetlands
Paper - Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla
Ink - Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand
Embellishments - Designer Natural Buttons

Lovely Autumn Trees

I love this particular stamp from the Lovely As A Tree set. I can make it for any season just by changing the color of the "leaves" on the trees. Using the Stampin' Write markers makes this really simple.

Stamp - Lovely as a Tree
Card Stock - Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
DSP - Sweater Weather
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand, Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango
Ribbon - Pear Pizzazz Taffeta

Magnificent Maple

I must confess, autumn colors are not my favorites. Some people do autumn colors really well. Me, not so much. That being said, I really was excited when I received this stamp and DSP yesterday. I've seen a lot of people using both of these items and decided I had to join the fun.
Supplies:
Stamps - Magnificent Maple (131868)
Card Stock - Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Very Vanilla
DSP - Sweater Weather (132184)
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, VersaMark
Embossing Powder - Clear, Gold
Ribbon - Tangerine Tango

Oh, Tannenbaum

I just love how this card turned out. As I was putting it together, I was trying to figure out how to dress it up, without using glitter. (Cards going to Operation Write Home can NOT have glitter on them.) That is how I came up with the idea of using shiny, silver bells, I mean brads.
Supplies:
Stamp - Christmas Lodge
Card Stock - Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
DSP - Deck the Halls
Ink - Always Artichoke
Ribbon - Cherry Cobbler seam binding
Brads - 3/16" silver, Clear Rhinestone
Embossing Powder - Clear

Let Earth Receive Her King

Here are a couple more cards for Operation Write Home (OWH). This is the same basic layout as the card I posted yesterday. I had originally planned to make all of the cards with the same layout, but it's just not in me. Although this Designer Series Paper (DSP) is retired, it always amazes me how many variations I can create with just one collection of paper.

Supplies:
Stamps - The Sounding Joy (ret.)
Card Stock - Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
DSP - Deck the Halls (ret.)
Ink - Always Artichoke

Christmas Joy

I'm in the process of putting together a batch of cards for Operation Write Home (OWH). What I recently discovered is, Christmas cards need to get to them by October 15 (end of October by the latest), in order to get to our Hero's so they have time to send them on to their family and friends. So, I've decided to make a batch of cards with identical layouts, but possibly different color and stamp combinations, in order to make several Christmas Cards to add before I send them out.

Each card will have the following sized layers (starting from the base):

  • 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (card stock, folded in half)
  • 5-3/8" x 4-1/8" (card stock)
  • 5-1/4" x 4" (DSP)
  • 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" (card stock)
  • 2-1/4" x 2" (DSP)
  • 3-1/4" x 3" (card stock)
  • 3" x 2-3/4" (card stock)
Yep, that's seven layers! Plus, there's 18" of ribbon, and a few jewels for embellishment.
Supplies:
Stamps - The Sounding Joy (ret.)
Card Stock - Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
DSP - Deck the Halls (ret.)
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake
Ribbon - Cherry Cobbler seam binding
Jewels - Pearls

Christmas Easel

This card was a bit of a challenge. I started with a Whisper White card base, but it needed something more. After switching the card base to Basic Gray, it still needed something more, which is why I embossed it with Lacy Brocade.

I liked what I saw, but then the ornaments just didn't work. I originally had the short, squatty one I show below, but I also had a longer, thinner one to the right. I switched that one out for the one below with the sentiment.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, it might take a bit longer, but playing with different layouts pays off in the end.

Supplies:
Stamps - Many Merry Messages, More Merry Messages, Ornament Keepsakes
Stock - Basic Gray, Raspberry Ripple
DSP - Raspberry Ripple
Ink - Basic Black, Basic Gray (daubbed around the edges) Raspberry Ripple
Embossing Folder - Lacy Brocade
Punch - 1" Circle
Framelits - Holiday Ornaments
Sizzix Die - Top Note
I also used Clear and Iridescent embossing powder, Rhinestones, Bakers Twine

Peace On Earth

My first Christmas card of the season. Right now I'm thinking, "It's too early to start making Christmas cards!" However, if I don't get started now, I will be mailing my Christmas cards in January.
Supplies:
Stamps - Christmas Lodge (ret.), Wonderful Blessing
Paper - Smoky Slate, Whisper White
Ink - Smoky Slate, VersaMark
Embellishments - Paper Piercing Punch, Rhinestone jewel, Silver embossing powder, Whisper White Organza ribbon

Betsy's Square

Hee, hee, hee. . . I CASEd this card from "From My Pad to Yours," who CASEd it from someone else. It really is a fun way to use Betsy's Blossoms and the layout. Just like my predecessor, I tweaked it a bit to make it my own.
Supplies:
Stamps - Betsy's Blossoms
Paper - Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Ink - Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Melon Mambo
Punch - Postage Stamp
Ribbon - Basic Black Scallop Dots, Bermuda Bay Taffeta
Jewels - Rhinestons

Life Imagined

Once again, I created a card I had not planned. My original plan was to include a jar of jelly beans. However, they didn't look quite right with this layout (I'll need to try something different for the jelly beans). The best part about this card is that I used a stamp I forgot I had. Imagine That!

Supplies:
Stamps - Mixed Bunch, Really Good Greetings
Cardstock - Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
DSP - Print Poetry
Punch - Blossom
Ribbon - Satin Stitched Raspberry Ripple
Embellishments - Crystal Effects, Ribbon Slides (ret.)
